A good Vastu consultant explains what they will review, what you will receive in writing, and what they cannot promise. Start with those three, and the rest follows.
Ask about scope
- What exactly will you review: the plan, the site, both?
- Is the review specific to my property, or a general checklist?
- Is the consultation online, on-site or both, and what does each include?
- Who will do the consultation, and who reads my plans?
Ask what you will receive
- Will there be a written summary, and what does it contain?
- Will recommendations be ranked, so I know what matters most?
- Are there non-structural options, or does the advice jump to construction?
- How are follow-up questions handled?
Ask about privacy
Floor plans and addresses are sensitive. Ask how your files are stored, who can see them and how you can ask for them to be deleted.
Ask about fees
A consultant should be able to tell you what affects the fee, such as property type, size, online or on-site, and travel. Be wary of fees that change after the consultation begins.
Be wary of
- Guaranteed financial, health or business outcomes
- Fear-based claims about your current home
- Pressure to buy products, stones or remedies
- Advice to demolish or alter structure without an engineer's input
- Credentials, awards or client numbers that cannot be explained when you ask
Vastu is a traditional discipline. A consultant who is clear about that, and clear about their own scope, is easier to trust than one who promises results.
