Vastu guidance for renovation

Renovation is a natural time to address a layout, since walls, flooring and fittings are already being decided. The aim is to make the right few changes, not the most.

Vastu guidance for renovation reviews an existing home and a planned scope of work, and separates changes that are practical and worth making from those that can wait or be handled without construction.

Who this is for

  • Owners planning a kitchen, bathroom or room remodel
  • Families combining or splitting rooms
  • Owners renovating before moving in or before a family event
  • Interior designers working on a client home

When to consult

Before the scope of work is finalised and contractors are engaged.

What is reviewed

  • How the planned changes affect entrance, kitchen, toilets and sleeping areas
  • Which existing features can stay and which are worth moving
  • Non-structural options, such as room use, doors, storage and fittings
  • Sequence of work, so that decisions are made in the right order
  • Items that are best left for a later phase

What to prepare

  • The current floor plan and the planned scope of work
  • Photographs of the rooms in question
  • The designer's or contractor's proposal, if available
  • A budget range, so recommendations stay practical

What you receive

  • A written summary with each proposed change marked as recommended, optional or leave as is
  • Non-structural alternatives where they exist
  • A suggested order of work
  • A discussion with you and, if you wish, your designer

Online and on-site

Online

Plans, photographs and the proposed scope are reviewed remotely, with a video call to discuss.

On-site

A visit to the home, subject to location and scheduling, for larger renovations.

Where Vastu ends and other professionals begin

  • Structural changes need approval from a licensed engineer and, where required, the local authority or society.
  • Recommendations are made within budget and practicality. No change is presented as essential for a guaranteed outcome.
  • Electrical, plumbing and safety standards take precedence.

Questions about this service

Do I need to break walls to follow Vastu?

Not usually. A review lists non-structural options first, and flags construction changes as optional.

Can I consult after the renovation has started?

Yes, but earlier is easier. If work has begun, share the plans and progress photographs and the review will focus on what is still open.

Does the consultation cover interiors?

It covers room use, placement and orientation. Material and style choices stay with your designer.
